Gufadgarn, the Evil God of Labyrinths (『迷宮の邪神』グファドガーン ()), is among the first from the Demon King's Army to defect to Vida's faction, and is the self-proclaimed first disciple of Zakkart.[1]

Following Ricklent's prophecy that Zakkart's soul would soon return to Lambda, Gufadgarn created the Trial of Zakkart to help locate her master's reincarnation.[2] After Vandalieu conquered this dungeon, he became one of Vandalieu's servants and is currently possessing a vessel to serve by his side.[3]

Appearance[]

Gufadgarn was born as a race that vaguely resembles Earth's spiders, antlions,[3] or scorpions, i.e. a hermaphroditic arachnid-esque monster. His body is composed of colored glass blocks in the shape of equilateral heptahedrons and hendecahedrons, which defies the laws of physics.[4] When he interacts with others inside the Trial of Zakkart, he appeared as a rock golem.[5] He has no discernible gender, and his species would reproduce through binary fission.[3]

At the request of Zakkart, Gufadgarn took the form of a human-shaped golem. Now, he inhabits a vessel resembling an elf girl[4] with silver hair and golden eyes, and a physical age similar to Zaidirs'. This is because, Gufadgarn had misinterpreted “beautiful girl” as “beautiful female child,” and “cute girl” to mean “cute child.” Otherwise she is described as a beautiful girl with a mystical aura about her, and is shown to be just as expressionless as Vandalieu.[6][7]

Personality[]

Gufadgarn struggles with a sense of nihilistic emptiness, and saw no value in anything in the world, not even himself.[4] This nihilism stems from being born to a primitive race with simple natures, which made them unable to understand Gufadgarn's desires.[3] Because he simply could not see any reason to disobey any order, he fell into the fold of the Demon King's Army, where he was overshadowed and forgotten about.[4]

This emptiness was only filled after meeting Zakkart, upon whom Gufadgarn bases his sense of values and beliefs, and proclaimed himself the First Disciple of Zakkart. Worshipping him, and in extension Vandalieu, became the core of his personality. In Zakkart's absence, he could not avoid slipping back into his nihilism and fall into slumber.[4]

As her mental structure is fundamentally different from that of a human, she often misinterprets things. This causes no small number of incidents where she becomes a “polite, crazy troublemaker” toward those around her. She does not have a strong sense of self as a divine being.[4] On the other hand, she has an aesthetic as one who goes into battle, and that part of her is easily understood by Lambda natives.[8]

Summary[]

Gufadgarn was born to a primitive race of arachnid-esque monsters with innate abilities for space magic, who was blessed with an unusual fate. Through coincidences, Gufadgarn ascended to godhood, and began ruling over others of his former species. Due to their simple natures, his newfound servants were unable to understand his desires. Thus Gufadgarn could not make full use of his new abilities, and simply continued spinning gradually more elaborate traps.[3]

With the rise of Guduranis, Gufadgarn naturally obeyed the Demon King and joined the invasion of Lambda. There his traps effectively functioned as dungeons, but he was overshadowed by other far more powerful evil gods, such as the evil god of demon castles, and was simply forgotten about in the Demon King's Army.[3]

Then he met Zakkart, who was the first to acknowledge him as a desirable and necessary ally.[3] Gufadgarn accepted his terms and was among the first evil gods to defect to Vida's faction.[3]

Following Ricklent's prophecy that Zakkart's soul would soon return to Lambda, Gufadgarn created the Trial of Zakkart to help locate the reincarnation of their former teacher. After Vandalieu conquered this dungeon, Gufadgarn possessed a vessel and began serving by his side.[6]

Powers and Abilities[]

As the title "God of Labyrinths" suggests, Gufadgarn's expertise lies in both Dungeon Creation and space magic.

Gufadgarn has halted the pollution of the world by converting corrupted mana into the bodies of monsters in the Dungeons he has created, and having the residents within the Boundary Mountain Range beat them down and have them use those as materials.[9][10] The gods of Alda's faction, who are unaware of this mechanism, mistakenly believe that he is generating Dungeon after Dungeon and progressively polluting the world.[11]

He is also responsible for creating and managing the massive S-class dungeon, the Trial of Zakkart, which remained unconquered until Vandalieu arrived.[5] Even since before becoming a god, Gufadgarn spent his time spinning gradually more elaborate traps, which consisted of distorted space pockets, that he and others of his species would wait for prey to fall into.[3]

Gufadgarn's control over Space-Attribute Magic is also so powerful, that he transports the entire Trial of Zakkart to new locations throghout the Bahn Gaia continent multiple times a year.[12] The only gods capable of controling space magic as freely as him are Zuruwarn, the sealed Gupyaresla, the high-ranking subordinate gods of the space attribute in Vida's faction, and arguably the champion Ark.[13]

In the elf girl vessel, her powers are reduced, though her magic and precise control remain intact. While in this form, she is possibly said to share some similarities with Banda.[13] She prevented a wave of magic attacks by a certain Heroic Spirit by opening a tiny teleportation gate at each hit point, and sent them all back to the Heroic Spirit herself.[8]

Trivia[]

  • Due to Gufadgarn inhabiting a vessel that resembles an Elf girl, Gufadgarn is recognized as a girl and participates in the bust ranking, despite actually having no discernable gender in his true form.[4]
  • Gufadgarn is labeled as a hermaphrodite, meaning he has both female and male reproductive organs.[4]
