TareaStatusBiographyRelationshipsMedia

Tarea (タレア ()) is a Ghoul Elder gifted in both smithing and bedroom skills.[1] She was formely a human, upon escaping prostitution, who was captured and transformed into a Ghoul.[3]

She's not a combatant, but an arms smith who creates equipment out of monster materials.[4] She creates equipment for the Ghoul men while also enticing them into submission. She teaches the other Ghoul women how to make men submissive as well as her smithing techniques, making the hierarchy very clear to them. She later becomes a co-founder with Vandalieu as creators of Transformation equipments.[?]

Appearance[]

Tarea is beautiful woman in her mid to late twenties with ringlet curled hair, and is usually seen holding a folding fan.[3] Appearance-wise she looks older than Zadiris and is always teased by her. She has a very feminine body with a lot of muscles, because of her job as a blacksmith.[?]

In bust ranking, she competes with Basdia for the first place. Darcia could also compete for first place. Ranked fourth are Eleanora and Memediga; fifth and below belong to Bilde, Kachia and others whose sizes are not outstanding, and Zadiris comes after them. Last are Rita and Saria (who have none).[3]

In the Web Novel, Tarea has golden pupils, gray-brown skin and claws stained purple with paralyzing venom, she was clearly a Ghoul woman. Her body decorated with jeweled accessories, she usually hiding her mouth behind a folding fan made from the shell of an Iron Turtle carved thin. With this appearance, it was completely appropriate to call her a Ghoul Queen.

Personality[]

After Tarea was sold into slavery, her behavior was very sad and without life.[?]

Once she was transformed into a ghoul, she became ambitious, and because of her smithing skills, she became the village leader.[?] She tries to speak in an elegant tone, though her actions only serve to make her commoner background apparent. She has a luxury complex second only to Vandalieu’s.[3]

She feels younger after having undergone Youth Transformation, so she is seriously considering using her own body to curry favor with Vandalieu, something she didn’t consider before. Tarea believes that being forceful wouldn’t be wise, so she diligently made arms for the defense of Talosheim as part of a plan to act as the 'woman who supports him from the shadows'. “I have my craftsmanship,” she told herself as she continued to create arms.[?]

Tarea wants Vandalieu to control the entire continent.[?]

Summary[]

Tarea has walked a difficult path in life. Her family sold her off as a slave, and she was forced into prostitution. In despair and being unable to see any future for herself, she killed one of her customers and ran away. She tried to lose her pursuers by escaping into a devil's nest, only to be captured by ghouls and turned into one of them. "However, she is an indomitable, brave woman. After becoming a Ghoul, she used her smithing skills to produce equipment, used techniques she had learned as a prostitute to entice the men, taught her smithing skills to the women and rose to the top of her village to rule over it."[3]

However, as Tarea has never properly hunted prey before, her level as a monster hasn’t increased and she is the weakest among all the Ghouls. "But as a smith, she possesses more skill than a nobleman’s personal employee or the most skilled smith one might find in a large city. This is the result of over two hundred years of hard work and experience. But if she had access to the latest tools, proper working environment and variety of available materials that living in a human society would offer as well as changing her Job back from Prostitute to Smith, her skill would likely increase even more."[1] She is also the only one in the group of women around Vandalieu who doesn’t feel a sense of risk at her lack of ability to do housework.

"She has a strong ambition to improve her position in society; she sees herself as a king’s vassal for Vandalieu for some reason and devotes herself to trying to gain his favor. For this reason, she views Zadiris and Basdia as her rivals. Hearing that Vandalieu destroyed the Subordinate Vampire who tried to kill her, she has become even more enthralled by him. (…) She enjoys bathing in the bathhouses."[3]

Trivia[]

  • She's the only one in the group of women around Vandalieu who doesn't feel a sense of risk at her lack of ability to do housework[5]
  • Tarea has become a High Artisan, a race title that hasn’t been seen by anyone before. Though she is unaware of this, if her existence were to become known, large sums of money would change hands in order to acquire her, as she is a hard-to-find skilled craftsman who can be legally enslaved. Her existence would likely draw the attention of the Mages’ Guild or the Tamers’ Guild.[?]
  • With Saria and Rita regaining their bodies, there has been a slight change in the bust rankings since the end of the second volume, but Tarea and Basdia still fight for the top spot. (If Darcia is included, there is a third contestant for this spot.)[?]
  • In Japanese, Tarea talks like a noble daughter = princess style.[?]
  • Like most female ghouls, who look young despite being advanced in age, Tarea has, as yet to be named, children. She also commented on bearing children when arguing with Basdia, implying that she has already borne children when exclaiming about the latter's inexperience.[?]
  • Tarea’s hand-made throne is carved out of a Treant.
