Tsuchiya KanakoStatusBiographyRelationshipsMedia

Tsuchiya Kanako (土屋加奈子 ()) was a student killed in a terrorist attack in Earth. In Origin, she was codenamed Venus (ヴィーナス ()), joining the Bravers, whom she betrayed by joining Murakami's group.[3] In Lambda, as Kanako Tsuchiya (カナコ・ツチヤ ())[4] , she eventually became the Artistic Guider.[5]

Appearance[]

On Earth, Kanako was relatively pretty. On one hand, she was usually the prettiest girl in class and stood out among her peers, and played several leading and secondary roles in her school's theatre club. While on the other hand, she didn't fit the media's then obsession with approachable idols who were "about as attractive as the cute girl in your class." She was never head hunted by talent scouts either, and there was at least one girl in each class who were as pretty as her, further building under her belief that her looks were not significant enough to carry her through an idol career. If anything, she may have been able to pass and audition and stand at the center of a girl group, though she'd still have to work hard to earn this position.[6]

In Origin, she became even more physically attractive than before, enough to catch the attention of a production crew in the entertainment industry.[6]

As a chaos elf, she looks like a 15 year old appearance-wise.[7]

Personality[]

"Kanako has a bright, cheerful personality, and she does not hide her wicked side, but she also has an airhead aspect to her."[8] She also has a self-centered personality.[9] On Earth, she stood out among her peers, and was popular in class.[6]

She is generally a calculating person, who chooses things she can make use of.[8] She has a strong tendency to make decisions based on her own losses and gains.[9] and is shown to be realistic in weighing her options, where she judged she was too mediocre to survive in the entertainment industry, until she was reborn with the right chips in Origin.[10] It's this trait that made her decide to defect to Talosheim and to avoid fighting Vandalieu at all costs.[9]

Kanako is also a very hard worker and a dreamer, shown by how she always carried her childhood dream of becoming an idol with her, even into her second and third lives.[8] "Incidentally, after joining the Eighth Guidance, she gave the leader Pluto several pieces of advice for her media stunts."[8]

After coming into human death and deranged fundamentalists, it took a toll on her wellbeing.[6] After repeated forceful treatments with Venus,[8] she became became impervious to anything she saw, and began perceiving people as simply pieces of information,[6] and treating human life more lightly.[9] Although she remained the same person on the surface, her internal personality changed.[8]

"However, even before she did this, she thought in ways that are similar to the current Vandalieu, such as not using good and evil as criteria for decision-making and not abusing her ability more than necessary."[8] Although she could have used Venus to implant negative opinions of her competitors into others, and to make her fans so engrossed with her that it cause them trouble in their daily lives, she never stooped that low. Besides, she still had to work hard to develop her talents, as Venus could only show her where to improve. Therefore, she didn't think what she did was necessarily wrong. Even then, she was sure there would be people who thought she cheated if her ability were to be revealed.[6]

Background[]

On Earth, Tsuchiya Kanako was enrolled at Yasaka High School in the same class as Amamiya Hiroto, and died alongside her class in a terrorist attack.[11] In Origin, she achieved her longheld dream of becoming an idol, before caving into the pressure of joining the Bravers at around 18.[8] Due to her growing discontent and distant relationship with the other Bravers, she joined Murakami's group in defecting to the Eighth Guidance.[6] She was eventually tricked and disposed off by Rikudou Hijiri.[4]

In Lambda, she was reincarnated as an elf,[4] and led Doug Atlas and Melissa in betraying Murakami and Rodcorte, and in defecting to Talosheim.[8]

As the Artistic Guider, she became the second guider after Vandalieu,[5] then followed by the Princess Guider Zadiris.[?]

Powers and Abilities[]

Her abilities are about the equivalent of a B-class adventurer, because she wasn't the type to fight battles head-on and originally specialized in using Venus. Furthermore, she has not done much leveling to increase her combat abilities yet. "She also possesses two divine protections, so she has much room to grow."[8]

She is proficient in water, life and earth-attribute magic, which made her quite active in the field when working with the Bravers as a disaster rescue team.[6]

  • Venus was altered so that it would not work on other reincarnators other than Vandalieu.[4]
  • Artistic Guider
  • Chaos allows her to fly and become temporarily transparent.[8]

Trivia[]

  • After reincarnating into Lambda, the way Kanako's name is written was changed from kanji to katakana, changing the name order to first name, surname order; i.e Tsuchiya Kanako to Kanako Tsuchiya.
